Pins Ultrasonic Welder-Pins, Holders and Press-fit Pins
INTRODUCTION
In power electronics, high-performance power modules, like IGBTs (Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistors) and IPMs (Intelligent Power Modules), are increasingly manufactured using ultrasonic welding. Unlike conventional soldering, ultrasonic welding of load-current and control connections offers comprehensive process and quality monitoring. In reliability tests, ultrasonically-welded power modules exhibit approximately ten times longer service life.
For connecting a highly sensitive ceramic circuit board with copper conductor tracks to a high pin, it's crucial to achieve minimal electrical contact resistance without damaging the ceramic, even the slightest cracks are unacceptable.
SBT's torsional ultrasonic welding technology reliably welds these contacts in high volumes through a fully automated process. The pin features a collar where the sonotrode transfers torsional oscillations. Ultrasonics enables low-resistance metal welding, minimizing losses.
SBT ULTRASONIC can develop all core components, including transducers and generators, in-house.
